Success for MSC sailors at the club’s recent Moth Open! Four MSC sailors and four visitors took to the water for three back-to-back races in extreme Moth conditions – lots of wind and half rudder! Moth virgin Sasha looked as if he had been sailing the class for years, making for a tight competition between himself and visitors Toby and Tim. Despite the conditions, and a failure of the outhaul, he prevailed in the last race. Sasha was overall champion, with Toby second, Tim third. Jenni, also from MSC, was Ladies champion. Sacha is the first MSC helm to win this trophy being previously only been won by ex National Champions Maidenhead Open on Saturday 20th July. MSC have a number of RYA qualified race coaches and we have available the use of at least one of them. This is available FoC to those who have entered for the open. Club members with a similar PY to that of the Moth may also take part in this coaching. At present there is one spare boat available for anyone to enter the open. There will be no need to be a member of t he BMBA to enter the racing on this day. We would like to try using RaceQS to track the racing. This is an App that can be loaded onto a phone which is then uploaded to the web with similar boats in the same location, and can be viewed at a later date.
